what they look like. Hopefully when I publish it, it doesn't mess it all up!

Classification tree for Animals

Animals - level 1
/ / \
Mammals Birds Fish - level 2
/ \
bears deer - level 3
/ \
black bear polar bear - level 4

A classification tree is just starting out with one broad category (Level 1) and branching off into more and more specific categories (Level 4). You can use this strategy to classify almost anything.
