Welcome back to remote learning! I know that
this may not be your favourite, but we will still have some fun learning
together and we’ll be back in class before you know it!
Attendance will be compulsory each day at attendance time and through each lesson. If your son or daughter will be away, you must let us know in the same manner as if we were at the school, otherwise they will be considered absent.
All lessons will be delivered through Google Classroom and Zoom. Different teachers will have different times at which they will do Zoom instructions with the students throughout the day. Grade 7/8 students are already signed in to my Google Classroom; but they will need to join Ms. Castle's. I have posted instructions on how to do this on my Google Classroom. Please have your child do this tonight, so that they are ready for Math at 10 tomorrow! Also, please be sure that your son or daughter has the Zoom app installed on their device. If they don't there is a link on the Zoom invitation on my Classroom page.
Zoom invitations for morning and afternoon sessions will be posted on the subject teacher's Google Classroom. The Zoom meetings are set to repeat each day, so by the end of the week, the students will need to scroll down their Google Classroom homepage to find the invitation. They use the same one each time, EXCEPT for Thursday morning - I will be away Thursday and Friday for personal reasons. Ms. Wilson will be doing my attendance at 10:15, Thursday morning rather than the usual 9:00. Ms. Friesen will do afternoon attendance at the usual 2:00. This will go back to 9:00 and 2:00 on Friday, when Ms. Castle will take attendance and cover ELA. Wow - confusing, I know. My apologies. Monday I will be back and our schedule for attendance and ELA will stay at 9:00 and 2:00 the rest of the way.
My Zoom sessions will begin with taking attendance, and then I will move into our lesson. Students will be allowed to ask questions as we move along, like in class. I will continue with lessons after attendance in the afternoon as well.
I will post the morning and afternoon Zoom invitations on my Google Classroom before I leave the school tonight, to make it less confusing for those currently trying to find the instructions for joining Ms. Castle's Classroom.
Thank you for your understanding. We're all in this together. This isn't what we wanted, but it's what we've got - so we will make the best of it! Good learning WILL still happen if we stay positive and dedicated!
